Extra Sunday Beginner Course

Extra Sunday Beginner Course

Dear dancers,

Swing Dance Luxembourg opens a special total beginners class for Lindy Hop for those who cannot wait to start dancing!

While our regular lindy hop beginner classes of this fall semester are sold out, we have received many requests for an extra course. We’d like to allow as many of you as possible to join our classes and therefore decided to open an extra class. Taking this class will enable you to join the next level in the next semester.

Course schedule

This extra beginner class will be held on Sundays and will run from 9th October 2022 to 4th December 2022. Please check the dates below in the course calendar, as we do not meet every week.

Time: 17:00-19:00

Dates: 9, 23 & 30 October 2022, 20 & 27 November 2022, 4 December 2022.

Location

Note that these Sunday classes will take place in Art & Sport école de danse, 22 rue de Hollerich, 1740 Luxembourg.

Course Description

The extra class is open to total beginners: no prior dancing experience required, everyone is welcome!

In this class, you will learn the basic patterns and figures of Lindy Hop. Following this class will enable you to join the beginner – intermediate class in the upcoming spring semester 2023.

Teachers

All classes will be taught by our inspirational local teacher team: Freya will teach with Eda, Lorenzo & Maria!

Course Fees

Course fee per class: 160€ per person.

Course fees listed are for the full course, that is 12 hours of classes. Unfortunately it is not possible to purchase single classes and we don’t offer trial classes. We recommend to attend a beginner taster usually offered before Monday’s social dance to try out Swing dancing.

Registration

Lindy hop is a couple dance, so you will be asked to register (and dance) either as a leader or as a follower. Those roles do not correspond to any specific gender role and anyone can register as one or the other!

Note that if you register with a partner for a couple class, both leader and follower need to do an individual registration mentioning each other as partner. It is possible to register without a dancing partner. Since we often have a long waiting list for followers, we suggest that you either register with a partner or let us know, by leaving a comment, if you’d accept to change your dancing role in order to secure your spot. If you want to register as a single follower in that role, we recommend single followers to register as soon as the registration opens, to have the best chance that we can get you a spot on the course!

Registrations are closed as this course is sold out. If you’re interested but could not get a spot, drop us a message to info[@]swingdance.lu and we will contact you if a registered participant cancels his/her registration. We will offer new beginner courses in the next semester, in Spring 2023! Until then, join us at our Monday socials with beginner tasters and sign up for our newsletter in order to stay up to date!

Please find our Terms and Conditions here.

Please note that we withhold the right to cancel the course if we do not reach the minimum number of registrations to make it financially sustainable.

HYGIENIC AND ORGANIZATIONAL MEASURES RELATED TO COVID-19

No Covid-19 related restrictions apply to the organisation of our dance courses at this moment. However, in the event of new measures adopted before or within the course of our Fall 2022 semester, we will have to adapt our rules in order to comply with any new legal rule.

In any event, we still recommend to all students to adopt the following hygienic rules:

  • Please wash your hands before and after class. Washing your hands with soap and water is recommended over the use of hand sanitizer.
  • We recommend all students to bring their own water bottle to class. Sharing a bottle is not recommended.
  • It will be possible to change partner during class, however changing partner is not an obligation and it is up to your individual choice to remain with your fixed partner.
  • In case you feel ill or are coughing, we kindly ask you to be responsible, do a self test and not join the class.

These hygienic measures are in the interest of our students, teachers and public health.

Failure to comply with these measures will result in expulsion from classes. Thanks in advance for your understanding and we look forward to see you in class!

THE ABOVE MEASURES COULD BE SUBJECT TO FURTHER UPDATES ACCORDING TO GOVERNMENT RULES.
