Fall Courses 2023
Dear dancers,
We’re ready to launch our Fall 2023 semester!
This semester, we will continue with the everyone leads and everyone follows (ELEF) approach in our Lindy Hop classes. In other words, all dancers learn both roles, that is to lead and to follow! We propose this approach for two reasons. First, we strongly believe that learning both roles is key to improving as dancers and to getting a more comprehensive understanding of the connection and the dance. Second, we’d like to avoid the long waiting lists for single followers, which we have faced on the occasion of every single registration period so far.
We keep one mixed level course for those of you who have at least one semester of experience and want to focus on one role. We will ask you only for this mixed level course to choose between signing up as a leader or as a follower. For all the other Lindy Hop courses, we will no longer ask you to sign up as a leader or as a follower!
For the Blues courses, you will continue to chose between joining them as a leader or as a follower.

Lindy Hop (ELEF) – Intermediate/ Advanced Continuation course for Spring 2023 Intermediate and for Spring 2023 Int/Adv |
This is the level for you if you have taken at least 3 semesters of lindy hop courses before (beginner and beginner+ or beginner/intermediate level), and you have a good social dance background. You might also have taken a weekend workshop before in Luxembourg or in a different scene. You are comfortable with all the above mentioned 6 and 8 count basic figures and are about to break away from those basic patterns to enrich your dancing by adding other, more complex, rhythms. You have worked a lot on your swing out and maybe learned a few swing out variations. You are constantly working on your connection with your partner. You have quite some charleston vocabulary. You are able to dance comfortably at mid and fast tempo.
Our teachers will build on your rich vocabulary to take you to the next level. The teaching will be at a speedy pace in this class and your teachers will challenge your dancing to a higher level.

Lindy Hop – Mixed level

Chose this group if you want to focus on one role, your role as a leader or a follower, and if you do not want to be introduced to the other role in the new « everyone leads, everyone follows » approach. Please note that this is a mixed level group. It is open to everyone who has done at least a full semester in the beginner course and is regularly joining our social dancings. Our teachers will adapt the learning pace to the participants in the course and do their best to find a common ground where all participants can learn new material.

This level is also appropriate for dancers who have done a solo jazz course before but want to reconnect with solo jazz after a long time without dancing or strengthen their basics. Our teachers will take things easy and will make sure to establish and refresh your basics.
This level is also a good choice for you if you have started solo jazz recently and feel that you want to strengthen your basic vocabulary before moving to the next level.

This semester we launch a weekly advanced solo jazz class for our most advanced solo jazz students. Take this class if you have at least 4 semesters of solo jazz experience and solid solo jazz vocabulary. Be assured that we will challenge your inner solo dancer! |
Blues – Beginner/Beginner+ |
This semester we open a new Beginner/Beginner+ Blues course. This is the class for you if you want to have a first glance into the world of couple blues dancing or want to deepen your blues basics. This class is intended for those who have 1 semester or less blues dancing experience. Absolute beginners are more than welcome. Join us if you would love to discover how to dance to slower music. You will learn how to connect to blues music, but also some fancy moves and tricks, so that you can dance with groove in no time.

This is a Couple and Solo Blues class, open to people who have taken blues classes for more than one semester and are confident with the basics of blues dancing. In our dancing we will continue looking for smoothness and groove, but this semester the focus will be on clarity and confidence in our movement. Leaders as well as followers can explore new ways to add some playfulness to their dancing. Last but not least, be prepared to dance to a variety of beautiful blues music styles.

Teachers
For the Fall 2023 semester, meet our inspirational local teachers ! In the course of the past year, our teachers have taken intensive teacher and dance training. They have prepared a new semester for you.
Did you know that all our local teachers are non professionals? 😲 Their passion for Swing inspires them to train and to work hard, to prepare your weekly courses by gathering material, breaking it down for you to learn it and choosing fine tunes for you. Their wish to share their joy of dancing takes them to commit to spending their weekly evenings with you for a full semester, after their day time jobs. 👏❤️
Course Fees
For all courses, the course fee is: 160€ per person.
The 160€ course fees listed are for 12 hours of classes.
Unfortunately it is not possible to purchase single classes and we don’t offer trial classes. We recommend attending a beginner taster usually offered before Monday’s social dance to try out Swing dancing.
We are proud to introduce, starting from September 2023, the KulturPass initiative, which aims to provide individuals with limited financial resources an opportunity to engage in Luxembourg’s vibrant cultural scene. As part of this partnership, we are pleased to offer 18 discounted spots for KulturPass holders during the Fall classes of 2023. If you currently possess a KulturPass, we kindly request you to leave a comment in the designated box on the registration form or reach out to us via email. We look forward to welcoming you and making cultural experiences more accessible to all.

Location
Note that all classes will take place in Altrimenti. The majority of the classes will be held in Salle Rheinsheim, which is the main room where we usually dance in Altrimenti.
For the solo jazz advanced as well as exceptionally for other classes we will meet in Salle Belair. This room can be found on the first floor of a side building of Altrimenti, and is at 2 minutes walking distance. See instructions below on how to get there:
The entrance towards Salle Belair looks like this from the main street Avenue Marie Therese.
ℹ️ We’re lucky that the rooms in Altrimenti have a proper and good wooden floor. In order to protect that floor, indoor shoes are required for all dancers! Please make sure to wear shoes that do not leave marks on the floor.
