Short Tracks January 2024

 

Dear dancers,

We would like to kick off the new year 2024 with two weeks of special classes led by old and new local teachers! On the menu we have the Big Apple routine for our Solo Jazz fans and special topic Lindy Hop classes for the couple dance addicts! For these Lindy classes, we will decide on the spot who will lead and follow during the session, based on your preferences and balance! So just sign up and we see who leads and follows later 🙂

 

 

Course Descriptions

Pimp up your following

This class is all about following! Join us for a playful approach to the role of the follower in Lindy Hop: follower techniques, follower styling and more. For this class, you should have at least one semester of Lindy Hop experience. Take this class whether the follower’s role is your favorite role or not (yet!).

This class takes place on Tuesday, 9 and 16 January 2024, from 19:00-20:00.

 

Tuck turn variations

In this class we will explore the tuck turn and its many faces! Let’s vary shapes, rhythms and patterns. From 6 count to 8, from 8 count to 4, from closed to open, from flower to closed or from open to closed… let’s see how many variations we can take 😮

For this class you should have at least one semester of Lindy Hop experience. Everybody joins and we see on spot, for each session, who wants to focus on which role!

This class takes place on Wednesday, 10 and 17 January 2024, from 19:00-20:30.

 

Swing out perfection

In this class we will focus on the most classic and characteristic move of the Lindy Hop: the swing out. We will fine tune and practice the technique, as well as work on some fancy variations!

This class is open to dancers who have already learned the swing out. In other words, if you’re taking classes with Swing dance luxembourg asbl, you have at least completed beg/int Elef or mixed level.

This class takes place on Wednesday, 10 and 17 January 2024, from 20:30-22:00.

 

Big apple

This class requires at least one semester of solid solo jazz experience! Be ready for a challenge!

As learning the Big apple requires some time, we will meet twice per week: Tuesday and Thursday, 9, 11, 16 and 18 January 2024, from 20:00-22:00.

For these January short tracks, meet our inspirational local teachers !

Did you know that all our local teachers are non professionals? 😲 Their passion for Swing inspires them to train and to work hard, to prepare your weekly courses by gathering material, breaking it down for you to learn it and choosing fine tunes for you. Their wish to share their joy of dancing takes them to commit to spending their weekly evenings with you for a full semester, after their day time jobs. 👏❤️

 

Short Track Fees

The following prices apply to the January Short Tracks:

  • Pimp up your following (2 hours): 25€
  • Tuck turn variations (3 hours): 35€
  • Swing out perfection (3 hours): 35€
  • Big apple (8 hours): 100€

Unfortunately it is not possible to purchase single classes and we don’t offer trial classes. We recommend attending a beginner taster usually offered before Monday’s social dance to try out Swing dancing.

The course fee for KulturPass holders is : 5€ per person for the “Pimp up your following” track (2 hours), 7€ for the “Tuck turn variations” or “Swing out perfection” track (3 hours per track) and 14€ for the Big apple track (8 hours).

Location

Note that all classes will take place in Altrimenti. The majority of the classes will be held in Salle Rheinsheim, which is the main room where we usually dance in Altrimenti.

 

 

ℹ️ We’re lucky that the rooms in Altrimenti have a proper and good wooden floor. In order to protect that floor, indoor shoes are required for all dancers! Please make sure to wear shoes that do not leave marks on the floor.
