SwingLuxDay January 9th 2022 – The switch edition
We welcome you to our first workshop of 2022 where we will focus on switching the roles of leader and follower in couple dancing! Thinking outside of our traditional dancing roles really allows us to open up new possibilities to enjoy Lindy Hop and understand both roles in practice. After the courses, we close the day with a cozy tea dance!

In this class we will focus on the swingout. Followers will learn to lead, leaders learn to follow. All participants will dance both roles! You should be comfortable with the basic swingout in at least one role.

In this class we will learn how to switch roles during a dance focusing on a social dance context. Learn fun ways to take the lead or become a follower in the middle of a dance! This class is suitable for you if you’re comfortable with the basic 6 and 8 count figures and rhythms, preferably in both roles. |

Registration
Free tea dance entrance is included when you take one or more classes during the day. Please note that the event will be run under the latest CovidCheck 2G+ regulation. See below for more explanation on the entrance requirements.
You can sign up with or without a partner. The swingout and the switch classes classes require prior lindy hop dancing experience. Please read the descriptions. The Charleston class is suitable for beginners as well.

HYGIENIC AND ORGANIZATIONAL MEASURES RELATED TO COVID-19
Even if cultural activities are facing new restrictions, we aim to still offer you the possibility to do couple dancing with an option for dancing without masks and distancing restrictions. To find the latest info on Covid-19 measures from the local government, please check here. The event will be held according to the latest ‘CovidCheck 2G+’ regulations in effect since December 25th 2021 in Luxembourg for sport activities in a group of more than 10 people. Below measures are based on governmental information:
- Access to the tea dance and/or courses is only possible if you are fully vaccinated or you have a valid healed status. On top of that you need to comply with one of the following rules: have a booster vaccine or present a valid negative covid test result (2G+).
- If you have a booster vaccination you are able to enter the venue without an additional Covid test.
- If you have not received your booster vaccination yet and are over 12 years and 2 months, you will need to provide a valid negative covid test result. Valid tests are:
- either perform a self-diagnostic test for SARS-CoV-2 on site (please bring your own self test to be done onsite in view of the entrance staff / self tests will be on offer at the venue if needed).
- or to present the result of a NAAT test (PCR, TMA or LAMP methods)
- or to present a valid certified SARS-CoV-2 rapid antigen test
- To enter each individual course you will need to present a valid CovidCheck 2G+ certificate. The CovidCheck application of the Luxembourg government will be used to check the validity of your QR-code. An invalid CovidCheck will not give you right of access to the course. We recommend to take the paper proof of your Covid passport in case the digital scan doesn’t work at that time.
- You will need to come at least 15 minutes in advance of your class in order for us to have time to check you in. It will not be possible to enter the class without having been checked-in.
- You will need to wear a mask after entering Altrimenti until the point where you have been checked in. After check-in, it is up to your individual choice to wear a mask or not.
- Students are required to wash their hands before and after class. Either in the restroom (to the left hand side before entering the classroom at Altrimenti) or by using the hand sanitizer station at the entrance of the class room. Washing your hands with soap and water is recommended over the use of hand sanitizer.
- We recommend all students to bring their own water bottle to class. Sharing a bottle is not recommended.
- It will be possible to change partner during class, however changing partner is not an obligation and it is up to your individual choice to remain with your fixed partner.
- The total amount of participants will be 15 couples for a couple class and 30 participants for a Solo jazz class.
- In case you feel ill or are coughing, we kindly ask you to be responsible and not join the class for that week. In case you return from international travel, please respect quarantine measures if at all applicable to you.
- Above measures are in the interest of our students, teachers and public health. Failure to comply with these measures will result in expulsion from classes. Thanks in advance for your understanding and we look forward to see you back at Swing class!
