Dear dancers,
This spring, we’re excited to introduce our new and intentional structure for swing dance learning at Altrimenti. After years of building a joyful, committed community, we are moving away from short-term, step-based instruction toward a deeper, skill-based and role-focused journey.
Our Learning Philosophy
Our approach supports meaningful, long-term growth. Rather than advancing quickly through levels or learning both roles at once (ELEF), dancers begin by focusing on one role (leader or follower) to build strong foundations.
We believe that mastering one role first creates a solid base for creativity, musicality, and improvisation. Only after gaining experience and confidence in your primary role do we encourage students to explore the second role in a dedicated setting.
Each level is designed to span at least one year (two terms), giving dancers time to embody essential skills before advancing.

Whether in solo or partner classes, our goal is to guide students into a deeper, more integrated understanding of swing and jazz dance.
Class Overview
Lindy Hop
Within a partnered dance, progress in a single role through Essentials and Progression levels, then dive deeper into creativity and expression — including the new B-role requirement for those heading toward Expression level.
Solo Jazz
Develop rhythm, individuality, and improvisation while honoring jazz roots.
Blues
Connect through groove, subtlety, and musical richness in partnered movement.
B-role Lindy Hop Focus Class
Wednesdays at 20:00
This class is for dancers ready to explore their second role in a structured, focused environment. It’s a space for building versatility, developing partner awareness, and enriching your overall dance expression – not for beginners, but for those ready to take the next step.
❗Note: Exploring your B-role in this class is now a prerequisite for entering the Expression level in Lindy Hop. We believe that true freedom in expression requires a holistic grasp of both roles.
Choosing Your Level
All dancers are encouraged to self-assess honestly and choose a class where they can grow comfortably and confidently. Each level is designed for at least two terms of development, with progression based on readiness, not speed.
